Workwear for protection against heat and flame
Protective clothing designed to provide protection against heat and/or flame. The standard is divided into different categories, where the code letters (A-F) indicate the requirements related to intense heat and fire that the clothing meets. The code letters are classified at various levels, with the highest number representing the highest tested level.
A1, A2: Requirements for limited flame spread,
A1: Surface ignition.
A2: Edge ignition.
B: Convective heat and open flames.
C: Radiant heat.
D: Molten aluminium splash.
E: Molten iron splash.
F: Contact heat. For letter codes, 1 is the lowest level.
For letters B, D, E, and F, the highest level is 3, while for C, it’s 4. It is necessary to use a coverall or a two-piece suit and ensure that the clothing is fastened at all times for optimal protection.
